Role Overview
The Design Manager will be responsible for ensuring all technical designs, for BMS proposals, and estimations are fully compliant with government tender specifications and client requirements. The role bridges design, estimation, and bid management, ensuring high win probability and technical accuracy in submissions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Tender Design & Compliance for BMS
– Analyze government and institutional tenders for Building Management System (BOQ,
specifications, drawings)
– Ensure 100% compliance with tender technical requirements
– Prepare deviation statements (if required) with justification
– Align product specifications with tender eligibility criteria
– Coordinate with OEM/vendors to meet compliance gaps
2. Estimation & BOQ Validation for BMS
– Prepare accurate cost estimations and BOQs
– Conduct rate analysis and cost optimization
– Ensure margin alignment with management targets
– Validate quantities from drawings and tender documents
– Support pricing strategy for competitive bidding
3. Technical Proposal Preparation
– Develop complete technical submittals
– Prepare datasheets, compliance sheets, and design documents
– Create system designs (if applicable)
– Ensure documentation is aligned with bid requirements
4. Cross-Functional Coordination
– Work closely with Business Development, Procurement, and Sales teams
– Liaise with consultants, government bodies, and contractors
5. Vendor & Product Alignment
– Identify compliant products and alternatives
– Maintain vendor database aligned with tender specs
6. Risk & Quality Control
– Identify risks in tender clauses and technical specs
– Ensure zero technical rejection due to non-compliance
– Maintain version control of all submissions
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education
– B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Mechanical / Electronics
Experience
– 5–10 years in tendering / estimation / design
– Government or institutional projects
– Infra / EPC industry (preferred)
Technical Skills
– Strong understanding of government tendering processes
– BOQ preparation & rate analysis
– AutoCAD
– Knowledge of compliance standards and certifications
